Thanksgiving Thanks
What a privilege to see the success of Crossover Christian Church’s Thanksgiving Food Drive this past November. A total of 118 families got to enjoy the holiday with dignity and joy as a result of this drive. We were also able to resource a soup kitchen for the holiday.
The buildup to a successful drive is the result of a remarkable communal effort of fundraising and donations:
-
The use of the Heritage Center in Mt. Sinai as a distribution point.
-
Restaurant Depot, Bohemia provided turkeys at deeply discounted prices.
-
Dave Steele Farms, Cutchogue donated 600 lbs. of potatoes.
-
Sang Lee Farms, Cutchogue donated fresh produce for 120 families.
-
Shield’s Fine Wines collected food on our behalf.
-
Stop and Shop gave gift cards that went toward the purchase of pies.
-
The Crossover community provided all the non-perishables and the volunteer impetus that carries this drive from start to finish.
-
School social workers across more than a dozen school districts identified families in need. Agents from OCFS servicing both Suffolk and Nassau counties deliver food to families desperately struggling to survive.
I am profoundly grateful for the compassionate care extended by many. Together, we have made a difference.
